Josh Falconer

Josh Falconer is Lead Data Taxonomist & Ontologist at The New York Times, where he is building a unified event taxonomy and ontology for AI-enabled data analytics. In his prior roles as Senior Ontologist at Bloomberg and Ontologist at Indeed, he developed knowledge organization systems for enterprise-scale data products. Previously, he served in various bibliographic metadata cataloging roles, focusing on manuscript library collections from the Middle East and North Africa. His current research interests center on event representation, facet analysis, and cognitive linguistics. He has earned degrees in philosophy, Semitic languages, and library and information science, and he continues to study linguistics and computer science.
